2: Group discussion

The topic for group discussion was “Whether western culture is necessary or not?” One can either speak for or against it. There were 10 members and all spoke nicely without creating any noisy scene. Some other common topics were:

What is the role of media?
Can China overtake India in software field?, etc.

3: HR and Technical interview
The interview started with enquiry of personal details. Later questions shifted to family details. One common question was “Why do you want to join Satyam?”.

The selection process started with a written test, which had 15 questions. Each question carried negative marking of 0.25. The questions were quite tough and time consuming as well. There was a question on series of figures. One question was on calculation of compound interest. In one of the question, present and 15 year later ratio of father’s and son’s age were given and it was required to find the father’s age. There was an easy question on profit calculation. Some problems were based on probability and geometry. In another question, a C program was given and it was asked to find the output.
Second stage of selection procedure was group discussion. The topic was given as “The usage and misusages of internet”.
In the third stage, they conducted HR and technical interview. There was only one panel member. The interview was very lengthy with more emphasis on technical aspects. Some questions were:
